calm drinkI have just discovered the perfect blend of herbal tea with ingredients touted to induce calmness in mind and body. It includes different herbal ingredients that, when drunk as tea, help the drinker attain feeling of calmness and stillness. This is different from stimulating effects of coffee and tea brew. I have just discovered “Serenity Wellness Herbal Tea”.

It is drunk as tea in the region for hundreds of years, and today known for its hefty antioxidant content without containing caffeine. The leaves and young twigs of the plant are used as tea.

Rooibos tea, unlike tea and coffee, can help ease nervous tension. It can also help alleviate allergies and digestive problems. Plus it contains potent antioxidants such as aspalathin, nothofagin, phenolic compounds and flavanols. Studies show that these compounds in Rooibos have antibacterial, antifungal and anti-cancer properties.


3. Lemon BalmMelissa officialis an herb native in Mediterranean region of Southern Europe with gentle lemon scent. Its effects on the body are remarkable; trials show that it can lift mood and mental performance while inducing calm and lessening anxiety.

Lemon balm is great for people who feel huge amount of stress. Its effect stems from the herb’s ability to influence the brain’s muscarinic and nicotinic acetylcholine receptors that controls mood and alertness. 11. Orange peel – Citrus sinensis the peel from the fruit of the orange tree is a good addition to tea due to its comforting fruity scent. The peel of the orange fruit is an overlooked source of nutrition; it is a richer source of vitamin C and fiber than the pulp, without containing excess sugar.

The peel of the orange fruit is also rich in essential oil (notably Limonene) which is studied due to its ability to protect cells against cancer.

Preparing Serenity wellness tea

Serenity wellness tea is very easy to prepare. To make hot drink, simply pour a cup of freshly boiled water over a teabag. Cover the cup (to prevent volatile oils from evaporating in the air) and steep for at least 5 minutes but not longer than 10 minutes. Longer steeping times helps extract more oils and fruity flavor from the herb. Too long soaking can result in a bitter astringent brew. Sweeten the tea with honey or sugar to taste.

Serenity wellness tea is also great served cold. This is the recipe to make 1 pitcher of iced tea: put 6 teabags of Serenity wellness tea in a teapot and add 1.5 cup of freshly boiled water. Let it steep for 5 to 10 minutes. Remove the teabags, then add cold water and ice to make a pitcher of iced tea. Sweeten with sugar or honey to taste.

    I remember playing tea party when I was a little girl and I had a china tea set. I guess it’s time to start playing again but this time for real. The English have it right don’t they, having a set tea time every day? Do you suppose they chose that time of day so that they could relax from a busy day or what? I bet they do it for that very reason though.

    Virginia I think this article is more about relaxing not the energy boost that you are supposed to get from the caffeine in the tea. It is interesting that the energy shots are good for a hangover but that really is for another article all together. Thank you for sharing with us what you have learned. Try the warm tea for calming effect though it really works.

    I have had chamomile tea before, but I have not tried different kinds of teas only because it is hard for me to believe that a tea can give me more energy than my favorite source for an energy boost: those energy shots that give you a boost (without the crash) for 5 hours and even longer. By the way, a good energy shot is also a GREAT pick me up from a hang over.

    I enjoy coffee to relax me so tea is definitely an option, they both have caffeine in them so I was wondering what the relaxing qualities are. If you have cinnamon in it does it still relax you? I love cinnamon so I drink cinnamon coffee. I understand that you can get relaxed by this but does the caffeine keep you from going to sleep?

      Cinnamon is added to this tea for sweetened and nice aroma. It would be mainly chamomile that is “relaxing”

    I want it to uncertain survival reality shows like Man vs. Wild or Man Woman Wild, that pine needles tea can be a great source of vitamins, and it is so easy to find and process. If I am not mistaken, it is basically the pine needles that come off of a Christmas tree. And you can find those in any cold weather climate. That’s good to know if you are ever stuck in frigid conditions.

    I had no idea that there are so many different kinds of teas which can calm you down. I’m actually more interested in teas that give you a boost in energy. I used to drink lots of coffee, but ever since I tried 5 Hour Energy drink, I have been relying on that for an energy boost at any time. Now, there are more brands of energy shots available on the market such as SK and others.

      Well, I can’t comment much on Energy drinks because I have no experience with them but to me is seems like nutrition from a proper food (i.e. not processed) combined with exercise should give you enough energy without spending your hard earned $ on energy drinks.

    I am really considering trying this tea product, not only for its calming effects (which I myself am seeking), but I would also like to let my father try it because he has been having difficulty sleeping due to his ear condition (tinnitus). He has been taking sleeping pills which his doctor prescribed, but I think it would be much healthier and easier on his heart if he were to switch to a natural alternative.

    I have found that any warm tea is good at helping me relax. I also like hot chocolate to relax me as well there is just something about the creamy texture, maybe it is the whole warm milk thing but it seems to really help. I am not much for wine but I hear it is relaxing as well. Thank you for your ideas on relaxing drinks they all sound terrific.

    This is a great idea it would be much better to drink something like this then to resort to alcohol to calm you down. Sometimes alcohol can have to opposite effect on people and it makes them angry and wired up, you’ve heard of a mean drunk right? I would much rather have the tea over the taste of beer and whisky any day.

    There are a lot of ingredients in this tea. But it sounds like it would taste great, unfortunately I think I am allergic to Chamomile because I once had just a Chamomile tea and it caused my eyes to water my nose to close off and some swelling in my face. Is it even possible to be allergic to Chamomile or was it something else in that tea?
